A traditional steel roller shutter is a strong choice when security and durability are the priorities.
The galvanised steel curtain forms a physical barrier across the opening when closed. When the shutter is raised, the curtain rolls neatly above the entrance, keeping the opening clear during normal use.
Our traditional steel shutter can be made to suit your opening with options including:
This allows us to recommend a shutter based on the building, opening size and level of security you actually require rather than offering a one-size-fits-all product.
Our steel roller shutter doors are particularly suited to larger openings where a robust security barrier is needed.
They can be used for:
Steel is especially useful where the shutter needs to withstand regular commercial use while keeping the premises protected when closed.
If you would like to compare steel with other shutter designs, take a look at our commercial security shutters. We offer a wider choice of shutters for different levels of security, visibility and day-to-day use.
Not every opening requires exactly the same shutter.
When we help you choose a metal roller shutter, we consider how the building is used, the size of the opening, how frequently the shutter needs to operate and the level of protection required.
A solid galvanised steel curtain provides privacy and physical security when the shutter is closed.
A perforated curtain may be a better choice where you still want some visibility through the shutter.
This can be particularly useful where security is important, but completely blocking the opening from view is not necessary.
A manual steel roller shutter can provide a straightforward and cost-effective solution when the curtain's size and weight make manual operation practical.
Electric operation is available for larger shutters and applications where regular opening and closing make powered operation more convenient.
QSec supplies both manual and electric roller shutter options and can advise on the most suitable operation for your opening.
Galvanised steel provides a practical industrial finish, but your shutter does not necessarily need to be left in standard galvanised steel.
Powder coating can be used where you would prefer the shutter to better match the surrounding building, doors or business premises.
A metal roller shutter consists of horizontal slats joined together to form a curtain.
The curtain travels vertically inside guide rails fitted to either side of the opening. As the shutter opens, the curtain rolls around a shaft above the entrance. When it closes, the curtain travels back down through the guide channels until the bottom rail reaches the closed position.
The result is a strong barrier that can be rolled away when access is needed.
For businesses with limited space around a doorway or larger opening, this can be much more practical than installing a conventional hinged door.
This is one of the areas where steel roller shutters are particularly useful.
Our QS-75T has been designed for larger commercial and industrial applications, and QSec lists maximum sizes of up to 7 metres wide by 5 metres high, depending on the final specification.
That makes galvanised roller shutter doors suitable for many warehouses, industrial buildings, agricultural premises and distribution sites with substantial openings.
We will still look at the individual opening before recommending a specification. Width, door height, fixing conditions, frequency of operation, and the required security level can all influence which shutter is right for the job.
Choosing the right shutter is about more than picking a product from a list.
We can help you understand the available options, measure the opening, arrange a security survey, and provide installation support. QSec supplies security shutters, steel doors, security grilles, bollards, and other physical security products.
